Today was flood day. We had an hour scheduled like normal. We can handle 1 hour of water. Sometimes it's a little tight, and we have to shore up the berms a bit, and we leak a little.
Today the neighbors didn't remember to take their turn till 10 minutes into it. This means I had my valves open an extra 5 minutes waiting for them to come out and close theirs; I also had an extra five minutes of the overflow water pouring into our yard after I closed my valves and ran over to tell the neighbors to turn on theirs.
This meant we had lots of leaking and overflowing berms. I did damage control (moving dirt) for over half an hour. Some of it I just couldn't stop. As of now, there are no more leaks that I can find. There is lots of water on the road in front of our house, but I did manage to keep it from getting to the main street.
If we get in trouble for this, I'm going to be pissed.
Of course, I belatedly noticed that there was a sheriff's car outside my neighbors house, so maybe they have more to worry about than I do at the moment.
ETA: I just talked to the guy in change of water, and he knows it's not my fault. He said, if anything, he'd write up our neighbor for taking his water late - but I told him I didn't care as long as I didn't get in trouble. I don't think he's going to write up anyone, but he did mention glass houses and throwing stones with regards to our neighbor....
