Changes.

I've been writing in this livejournal for nearly 6 years. I've used photobucket as my way to get photos into many of my entries. With their new format, I've about given up on them. I can now upload some amount of photos directly to livejournal. I don't know how long before I use up their storage limit, but for now I'm going to try staying inhouse with my photos.

All my archives will still link to photobucket, too much hassle to try to change all of it. But for everything going forward...

My old style of journal page did not support the sizes I can make the photos I upload directly to livejournal, so I'm going to use a new style for a while.

We'll see how that works out.

ETA: I will probably change the new style several times before I'm satisfied. I have already changed it twice since this posting.

We went to the first house filk the kids and I have managed to make (besides our own) in a looong time. The kids kept coming up sick so M went by himself. This time they are at the tail end of a cold, but were well enough to drag along to someones house.

All three participated off and on. They each performed the zombie songs they wrote a couple of months ago.

At one point [livejournal.com profile] ash_of_roses taught the kids how to play Picaria.

I played a few songs I plan to perform at my concert at the upcoming Convention (5pm on a Friday, I expect to have an audience of two and a half, but I'm playing anyway), and realized I need to play them each another dozen times or so, to get smoother with the chords. So I figure either my fingers will be really tough by the end of the week or bleeding. I think I've practiced guitar more in the past week, than I had all the previous year.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] harmonyheifer and [livejournal.com profile] chatworthy for a great shindig.

I know I posted last Thursday, because that was Thanksgiving. Next thing I know I looked up and realized tomorrow is Thursday again, and I hadn't looked at livejournal in several days. I'm glad I finally did, because today was the first day of [livejournal.com profile] cadhla's Fannish Advent Calendar. A tradition she has had for five years, that I have only just noticed today - oh well, better late than never, and I suppose I can pull up the archives when I have some extra time to read.

Hrmmm... extra time, doesn't happen very often, but that's okay. I guess that's why I lose track of my weeks so easily.

ETA: I realized that I took so long to write this post, that by the time I posted it it was actually already Thursday.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] catnip13 for this - "The gift of giving your child the time to explore their passions is a huge one."

Someone on the unschooling lists would have monthly panic attacks about unschooling (and yes, she did eventually come to realize these may have been hormonally induced). She would worry things weren't working and it took some reflection to realize it wasn't the unschooling causing the problem. She made herself a note that read, "It's not the unschooling, it's ______" and filled in the blank about whatever was really bothering her the most at the time. Eventually she just permanently filled in the blank and left this note on her refrigerator,

"It's not the unschooling, it's life."

Life happens even if kids are in school (or sitting down daily for formal school at home), and so do monthly hormonal changes (especially if you're of the female persuasion ;-). I tend to flow through the month feeling more positive and energetic during certain parts, and more tired and negative during others.

Go figure ;-).

My kids will get the gift of time (given the amount of time I spent in school trying to learn things I've manged to forget again over the years, I don't think they are missing out on much not being there), thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] catnip13 for reminding me of that at least.

1)Fifty cent boxes of raspberries at the fresh food market.

2)Other peoples' pools. We went to a filk/swimming party at [livejournal.com profile] harmonyheifer's house last night. It was great fun - swimming, eating, singing, then more swimming (at least that's what the kids did, they probably totaled over two and a half hours swim time).

3)Enough Swiss Miss to properly doctor up my coffee.

4)My kids (H is getting to where she is very competent in accomplishing many tasks - so her help is actually helpful most of the time. C tries to help so often, that sometimes he succeeds and the rest of the time at least he keeps me company and makes things more fun. S surprises me sometimes by volunteering to help more often than she used too.)

5)My husband - he's been maintaining very good humor while letting me drag him off to look at house after house in my search for horse property.
