My goat looks dead when he sleeps fully on his side with his head on the ground.

Boy is well into his second week of working the grown-up job. Today they gave him work shirts, and on Monday he gets to go off-site.

I did flood-day for the first time in several months. On the one-hand, I love being surrounded by green, on the other, I'm dangerously close to declaring "I'm too old for this shit."

M and S are having a friendly competition writing/recording songs for FAWM (February Album Writing Month). S is winning.

H's boss had a stroke in December, she has been interim manager ever since.

Our electricity came back on in about 2 hours. I guess when they have an easily recognizable problem, such as car hit transformer, they can do their jobs in a timely fashion.

One of our cats loves the dog. No really, even more than you are imagining. Kneeding, arching his back in cuddle language, loves the dog. If the dog is outside, the cat finds us, chirps at us, leads us to the back door, to get us to let the dog in so he can cuddle with him. The dog is as confused as the rest of us by the situation.

It rained last night. Finally, a open up the sky, downpour, that lasted several hours. About damn time. We had just flooded that morning, so parts of our backyard are still very much under water. The ducks are over the moon.

Someone, having a much worse day than I am, crashed into a transformer down the way.

Now many people are without power.

I am currently sitting in my car, burning gas, to charge my phone.

I'd say environmentalists weep, but we all saw with the burning of the Teslas that none of them are really worried about air quality.

My mom likes to keep track of the number of the temperatures in her area. Then she talks about how hot it is based on those numbers. I almost never pay attention to the actual temperatures. I have to go out every day to take care of the animals, so I just judge if it's hot or not based on what I feel when outside doing my work.

After spending the last 20 minutes outside I can definitely state: Man it's hot today.

Unfortunately, I have flooding today, so I will not be able to minimize my outside time and enjoy my air-conditioned house instead.

My Mother has recommended a British talkshow type comedian to me. She insists he's not political, but given the vast differences between us on core beliefs in that department, I don't expect she's correct that politics don't flavor his humor, or that I'll actually find him funny. I couldn't get through 10 minutes of the last "hysterically funny" comedian she suggested I watch.

I'd mention my favorite British comedian to her, but Ricky Gervais uses c*nt far too liberally for me to recommend him to my Mother and Father.

I used to shop at second hand stores because I was broke.

Then I shopped at them because I am cheap (or frugal if one wishes to be kinder in the description).

Now I shop second hand stores because it's the only way to find 100% cotton clothing. It has become abundantly clear to me of late, that I am not the new clothing industry's target demographic.

Then again, after the successes of today's outing, my frugal side is feeling pretty satisfied with the situation.

Cooking.

I am a solid cook. I have a repertoire of dishes that my family will generally enjoy, that can span a two week period with very little repetition.

I am not, however, a creative cook. I don't like to take chances, or try new recipes.

The boy, on the other hand. Damn.

This past couple of weeks he has been perfecting what has become known as his Hobbit curry. Neither the hubby, nor I, have gotten sick of being his guinea pigs.

C can make a reliable enough curry, that the last time M and I went out for Thai food, we both ordered noodle dishes.

First it got hot enough to turn on the AC. Then it cooled down enough to make having a fire tonight a pleasant idea.

I like fire.

Given the rain today, I'm starting to wish I had run my errands yesterday.

ETA: We got freaking hail.

So, today is apparently some left wing protest day. Protesting weeding out corruption and waste in government, or some such.

Well crap, now I have to get off my lazy rear and do my shopping today.

Apparently, every Federal worker has been sent an email demanding they respond with a 5 bullet point list of things they accomplished this past week.

Everyone on the left side of Twitter seems to be freaking out. Calling it a waste of time, a waste of money, unconstitutional even.

Damn.

I cannot think of a single job I've had, where I couldn't have listed 5 things I did in any given week. Even the one that was only 10 hours a week, Freshman year of college. With the 5 day a week ones, gee that's 1 whole thing a day. When you have a job, you have things you are expected to do, you know, because it's a job. That's why you're there and they are willing to pay you money.

Elon has stated on Twitter (if I were a Federal employee, I would read Elon's Twitter religiously), that this is a bare bones competency test. Can an employee respond to an email, and can they write coherently. That's it, that's all they're looking for at this stage.

Best part, if an employee does not respond by Monday, it will be considered a resignation Fingers crossed they follow through on that, especially since Democrat "leaders" are encouraging workers to ignore the email. Anyone taking advice from David Hogg is too dumb to be employed.

The kittens' new favorite place to nap during the day is the guest room bed.

Having a washer and dryer in the house is a lovely thing.

H is all set with her car, so our spare truck is back in our yard.

We'd consider selling the spare truck, but its odometer stopped working a few thousand miles ago, and that would very much adversely affect its selling price.

Sometimes I worry I'm mixing up affect and effect, but than and then never give me trouble (unlike the rest of the internet).

Trump's first two weeks have been fun.

Whenever I see a farm field it cheers me up a little. A stretch of land that hasn't already been turned into a housing development.

It has become abundantly clear, that even without the doing of things to get in the way, I'm not very inclined to get things done.

Does burning old logs, thus making space for new logs, count as yard work?

I really like fires.

I keep doing things, and doing things keeps getting in the way of me getting stuff done.

It is so fucking bizarre to me, how I can read the essay of a liberal, whose carefully chosen words, meant to be an attack on the current President and his supporters, are in actuality, an incredibly accurate condemnation of the last President, his administration, and supporters.

It's like we're living in a dual reality.

The girls have moved in together.

When this happened, boy requested a room change, into H's old room. Since the boy's old room is technically a den (no closet) and smaller than the requested bedroom, it seemed like a reasonable ask.

Hubby had been using H's old room as a recording studio for the past few years, so his buy in was necessary.

After a lot of sorting of stuff (stay here, go with girl, donate, trash), boy has his new bedroom and hubby has his new music room.

S's old room has a future as a guest bedroom, but is currently the depository for the rest of the things that need sorting.

Since the new music room is just a music room and no longer has to double as a guest room and a depository of extra stuff, we were able to set up the boy's keyboard.

For the past few days I have been able to enjoy piano sounds emanating from the music room. I am pleased with this development.

My Petersburg, from Anastasia the Musical.

Sometimes I need to remember to listen to more music and less news and political commentary.
