I have a friend, who manages to average four or five posts a day on his blog (I'm just guessing at that average, I didn't actually count the posts and figure it out for real).

I am not that prolific. I may have four or five post ideas bounce around in my head on any given day, but by the time I settle down at the computer, most have drifted away on the wind, never to be thought again. I'm lucky to get down more than one post a week (and due to the encouragement of a particular friend, I really try to do at least that).

Maybe that's why I'm not much of a writer. I sometimes have some very good ideas, come up with articulate interesting prose, then by the time I try to capture them they are gone. Even within a few seconds of thinking them.

I'm also usually not very quick on my feet in conversations. Many a time I've thought of the perfect retort two hours after the fact.

I do sometimes get it right, though.

I once had a beautiful rant against a guy at a con after he complained about parents wanting to control what their kids' learned in a private school. Beautiful rant. It all came out precise, articulate at the time, but while coming off the buzz from the high of sticking it to an idiot, I couldn't have repeated two sentences of what I had just said. It was fun while it lasted, though.
