crazychicknladyThe other day at the store the checker asked if my kids were back in school yet. I told her we homeschool, and she asked if we do school five days a week. I said we play things by ear, or some such.
It is not my desire to educate the masses about homeschooling, let alone unschooling. That's why I never answer that we are unschoolers, and I usually let the people I'm talking with draw their own conclusions about homeschooling.
If we only "did school" on the weekdays, I'd have to really curb my kids' habits on the weekends. I mean, today they immersed themselves in classical music by watching Disney's Fantasia. Classical music is way too schooly for the weekends, after all. And if I'm not careful they will start writing each other notes, compose stories, add, subtract, learn about history . . . you get the picture.
I guess we are more of a 7 days a week, year round sort of school. We may not have formal classes, but there are plenty of learning opportunities for us out there from day to day.
