Bean bag buddies

crazychicknladyI was doing a web search to try to figure out what kind of bean is good to use for making bean bags. We have a sackful of mismatched baby and little kid socks. After pairing off as many as I could to give to some friends who are expecting their first baby, I stashed the rest away for future use. Then I did my search. I couldn't find any reference to a specific type of bean, though one site said they used split peas and another preferred rice.
I did come across a site called Kaboose, with really easy instructions for a bean bag buddy. We promptly made some :) (The main change we made to their instructions, was I just tied a knot in the end of the socks instead of tying them with yarn or ribbon). I just happened to have socks, googlie eyes and a bag of small white beans on hand.
They are named Boo, Flower

It's amazing how something so simple can be so fun. The kids got tissue out to use as blankets. Then H turned her tissue into a cape to turn her mild mannered Purple into Super Purple.
