Duck Eggs.
Dec. 28th, 2011 11:40 amI found our first duck egg this morning.
Technically I found two, but one of them was in a water run off spot from one of our water buckets, so it was in water and mud by the time I noticed it. I just tossed that one into the main yard for the dogs. Instead of going splat, it bounced. Nice strong shell.
The other was in a patch of grass. They are smaller than any eggs our chickens currently lay so I know it's a duck egg. The smaller size is unsurprising - as the birds mature, their eggs will slowly get bigger and will eventually be larger than our chicken eggs.
Now I have to wait for everyone to wake up to share the happy news.
