crazychicknlady: (Chicken)
So the neighbor girl has been over to play a lot lately. She convinced me to let her play in the backyard where the swing set is. When I let them back there the first time I commented to H that they can feed the chickens bits of grass, but don't go in the chicken yard. The neighbor girl's reaction was an excited, "You have chickens? I've never seen a chicken."

The next day she informed me that her mother told her that since our chickens have that red stuff hanging off their beaks they are roosters.

Cool, I have four egg laying roosters. ;-)

This entry brought to you by a poke from a friend, "You ought to update your blog." :)

This is H's second year carving her own pumpkin. Except for helping her scrape out some of the guts and seeds, she did it all herself. Following is some photographic evidence.

S also tried to carve her own pumpkin this year. I cut open the top and carved the mouth, but she carved the rest.

I carved C's pumpkin with some direction from him. He didn't want to touch the slimy pumpkin innards. This year H and S liked touching the slimy innards with their hands, but decided the pumpkin goo made their arms itchy.

We lit the finished jack-o-lanterns and set them at the corner of our grass. The following are a picture with the flash on, then with the flash off (C thinks the picture without the flash is scary).

That just leaves roasting the pumpkin seeds.
