I need to figure it out my way.
Jun. 23rd, 2009 05:03 pmWe usually pay the girls six dollars every two weeks. Lately I've just been adding up the amount in my head every two weeks instead of paying them, mostly because they haven't asked about the money. Last night H asked about her money, and I let her know it had been six two week periods since we had payed her so we owed her thirty-six dollars.
It then became very important to her to figure out if I was right. She mentioned how she can fairly easily add with twos and fives, so I thought I'd help her out by having her add six fives and then six ones. She obliged me, and got thirty-six, then proceeded to tell me:
"I need to figure it out my way."
She carefully, in her head, added up her sixes to get twelve, eighteen, twenty-four, thirty, and finally, thirty-six.
Then she was satisfied.
