It was a sidecar bed he built for me back before S was born so we could more comfortably co-sleep with our newest baby. H (almost 2 at the time) ended up sleeping in it most of the time till we moved both girls out about 15 months later. Then when C was born he used it consistently until a few months ago when he moved to a mattress on H's floor (one of these days we'll have a house big enough for each kid to have their own room).
The best part of the whole bed to toy box transformation was M let the kids help.
H and C sealing the extra wood needed to make the toy box.
