I got tired of my default position being waiting.
Wait till we get a new house to plant new trees.
Wait till we get a new house to buy a trampoline.
Wait till we get a new house to get a horse.
Wait till we get a new house to get more chickens (ours are getting a little old, and I've been having to buy eggs lately).
So....we got new baby chickens :). And we decided to keep them in the laundry room for the time being - thus it's new found popularity.
H got a Laced Wyandotte - Looloo , S got a Barred Rock - Nutsy Rose (S's first chicken, also a Barred Rock, was named Nutsy after the vulture in Disney's animated Robin Hood), C got a Buff Orpington - Goldie Feather (I was really surprised she didn't end up being called New Chick).
They are about ten days old. A little old for puffballs, but still small enough to be cute. I didn't feel like driving all over looking for younger chicks - the kids were happy with the babies' size, and I was pleased we'd found a Barred Rock. We've always had good luck with our Barred Rocks in the past - they were calm and solid layers.
So without further ado, the newest members of our flock:
