New saddle arrived today - I may try riding Ezra tomorrow afternoon after M gets home from work.
Yesterday C and I were playing with the sandpaper letters. They are nice Montessori style, but we were a little unorthodox in our use of them. C took every letter out, handed each one to me in turn and had me read them. Then he sorted out five each and we played a game he made up involving laying out the tiles one by one. The first to play their fifth tile, won. C always got to go first, so guess who always won ;-).
Lots of big boxes to play with lately - the new dishwasher box, the saddle pad box, the saddle box. After the saddle pad arrived, a few days ago, C had himself special delivered to several members of the household with himself tucked neatly inside the box (S took a few turns in the box, too). Later C decided it wasn't a good hide-in-seek box, since it was too hard to breathe in there if he wasn't found soon enough.
We flooded yesterday evening - I love flood day. We have enough grass growing now, I can walk around in the water without having to leave behind footprints. Ezra didn't appreciate being locked in his smaller pen, though. When the water kicked on he ran back and forth, snorting and even rearing some - he had enough energy he could have really used more room. We keep him in a smaller area above where it floods, so he doesn't end up all muddy, and our ground doesn't get churned up by 1000 pounds of horse while it's wet. He'll get to be let out into the larger paddock by tomorrow.
H likes having Ezra around - so much so, that she said even if she never rides him, she's still glad he is here.
