We must be doing something right.

Last week I showed the girls how to clean the cat litter. They decided it was easy and fun - after several times each of doing the job themselves they still think it's easy and fun.

Day before yesterday all three kids spontaneously dusted the house for me (H started it, and S and C joined in almost immediately).

Yesterday H asked me to help her write and illustrate a story (it ended up with me typing as she dictated it - with just a little brainstorming by me to help her decide what the protagonist might be up to).

Yesterday evening the kids surrounded me on the futon and took turns creating and singing songs in our own version of a game of Encore. For the word "cold", C sang a song about blankets and how he shouldn't pile on too many or he would crush himself and break the house. For "fight" he sang about fighting and killing bad guys with his sword.

A Budding Filk Artist

I was going to put in the comments of my last post some more of the songs C came up with while we were playing our Encore game, but then I decided his singing warrents it's own post.

C got the word "secret" in the game and sang, "I have a secret and I can't tell you, I have a secret and I can't tell you, I have a secret and I'll tell you."

He has a very sweet little voice.

He used to call the Star Wars Lego game Star game, but now he just calls it Star Wars. The last time I referred to it as Star game he sang the song, "Star Wars and Star Game are not the same, Star Wars and Star game are the same".

He likes to make comparison songs like that with the same and not the same in the lyrics.
