Late night chats

Such as:
How are baby carrots made?
Turns out they were a very clever marketing scheme (and a new way to sell ugly carrots for human consumption) developed by a California farmer back in 1986. Google it if you really care for more details.
H has trouble shutting off her brain at night. As a result, it can take her a long time to fall asleep, and for the past two nights she's wanted company. I think I end up making the problem worse, but it is fun chatting with her and having that time without interruptions from her younger siblings.
Tonight we managed to discuss the president, the fact that no woman has been president nor vice-president yet, why women have an easier time getting custody after a divorce (thus we also had to cover what custody, legal and physical, actually means), humidity, that Florida is a very big state and Texas is even bigger, and, of course, baby carrots.
I almost put H off carrots forever by mentioning that they are a root vegetable. The thought that they are roots is very disturbing to her.
