Last Karate Class
Aug. 18th, 2010 08:10 pmH earned her junior black belt tonight - in her rec center, somewhat kenpo, but more broadly styled karate class. Normal progression in the class involves a few stripes on the brown belt before a black is awarded, but H has been far better at preforming her moves than most of the other kids for a while now.
It's nice she got the black this time around, since she had already decided to take a break from karate for a while. Besides, she earned it.
When the Sensei was telling her how she had done well, but there was still a lot to learn and he hoped she would stick with it, she responded brightly with the non-sequitur, "We have a horse!"
She and I may take a class together when she is thirteen (and I'll drive her to the kenpo classes if she changes her mind and decides to take some of them before that), but for now she is going to take a theatre type class and pursue other interests.
