Nesting Box
Aug. 7th, 2012 12:59 pmA long while back (around when the ducks were supposed to start laying for us - so maybe December of last year or early January of this year) M enlisted H's assistance, and, in a good Father/Daughter project sort of way, they built a nesting box for the ducks.
Since then I have occasionally found a duck egg inside - though far more of them end up scattered about the chicken/goose/horse yard than end up in the box. This Spring, the geese took over the box for several months.
In the past few days, however, I've found one or two duck eggs in the box every day.
Today I found ducks (and two eggs).
C's Feather head, the Fawn and White Runner Duck,
and H's Blue Moon, the Blue Runner Duck.
They were trying so hard to protect the eggs they had in the box I had to get quite close to shoo them out.
