C - "Mommy, Mommy! There is a swarm of butterflies!"
H - "You should get your net and try to catch one."
C - "I already got S's net for her!"

After finding the close up map of Prince Edwards Island in the large Rand McNally (H and I are reading Anne of Green Gables), I followed the kids outside.

S eagerly waved me over to the gazebo to show me the little gray thing H had caught in the net. Once we let it go I realized that all the color was on the inner part of the wing. They're rather pretty when fluttering.

H and I went to check to see if the caterpillars infesting the grape trees were still there, or were the cause of the new influx of butterflies. Nope - they're fatter, our grape leaves are being thinned out (sigh), but they are still caterpillars.

By the time H and I got back from the grape trees, S had caught another butterfly, telling us, "This one's a lively one." After setting it free, she was gracious enough to give her little brother a turn with her net.
