Photos from the last freeze.
Jan. 31st, 2013 05:18 pmA few weeks back we had five nights of freezing weather. Five nights of frozen over animal waters. Those five nights may have been too much for some of our younger citrus trees - we'll know once Spring is here and those trees have a chance to leaf out.
All the animals came through fine. I just took a shovel out each morning to break apart the ice. Arrow liked that ritual. He liked to wait for me to break up the ice so he could snag a piece to eat.
One morning I found a duck egg frozen in one of the bird waters. Guessing by the level of the egg it looked like the duck must have layed the egg when the water was slushy, but not completely frozen over.
