I finally decided to try the free month trial of Netflix. I really didn't expect our connection speed to be fast enough to support streaming. I figured, it was worth a shot, but didn't expect much to come of it.
I was wrong.
Steams no problem - though if we try having Netflix open in too many devices at once M's Startrek online game gets really laggy.
Unfortunately a lot of the titles we are interested in are either not available at all - or only available on disk, not streaming. To get disks through the mail is an additional $7.99 per month. That never seemed worth it to me (even back when Netflix was only 5$ a month), since there is the hassle factor of dealing with disks though the mail, and the wait time between selections. So for now I am resisting the siren song of such titles as Gilmore Girls and Touched by an Angel.
There is plenty to work through, however, just from streaming options. I've introduced the girls to Charmed, and I'm slowly working my way through Law and Order: Criminal Intent. That still leaves all of the X-Files, something I never got into back when it was on TV, and of course the girls should enjoy Highlander.
Their anime collection is a little skimpy, but I'm hoping over time Netflix will add more to it's streaming options, and at least the ones we've checked out so far are dubbed, which works better for the girls.
$7.99 a months seems a bargain for what we get, and my instant cue has nearly 20 selections of TV series, so we should be happily busy for a while.
