I keep going to my livejournal, hitting the button that lets me write a post, then staring at the blank space with no idea what to write. Occasionally I'll type a few words or sentences, then delete them. We haven't gotten into the full swing of 4-H yet. So other than the occasional playdate and C's karate, we don't have too much going on right now.
Last Wednesday, C had his first Cloverbuds meeting. He chose that over testing in karate, since there was a scheduling conflict. The Sensei said he will individually test C next Wednesday, since he's never done that for him before.
(As an aside, why the devil doesn't my spell check recognize the word Sensei. Whenever I type it, I have to go to Google to make sure I am getting it right. And before any of my readers point out that there is probably a way to add the word to my spell check, I really just wanted to whine in that moment, not address practical solutions. Besides, it really ought to be there in the first place.)
I'm not expecting a lot from this testing; as far as I could tell C should have earned his blue belt last time. He was calm, even after getting hurt, he kept extra talking to a minimum, and he did every move asked of him. It really feels like the Sensei is pacing him, so he doesn't progress through the belts too quickly, since C likely has another year and a half before he ages out of this class. The Sensei told C he has to mature into his belt, and C definitely has some maturing to do, but last testing he really pulled it together. I'm wondering if on Wednesday he'll do worse (in my eyes) than last testing and still get a new belt. Otherwise it's 4 blue stripes. At least C still considers it an accomplishment to get a stripe, so I'm just working on keeping my expectations low and my mouth shut on the subject. Smiles and hugs no matter what.
