M and I are splitting forces for the weekend.

M is taking the girls with him to LepreCon, and C and I are staying home. Opa's puppies had some bearing on this arrangement - we have them for a couple more weeks.

M is a great collector of Hawaiian shirts. The first one he put on this morning had a tear, so he switched to his new black one. H's response was, "Daddy has a black Hawaiian shirt!?"

Yes, yes he does. And it's silk too.

The shirt being silk led to a conversation between M and the girls about silkworms. This led me to comment about the silk worm H raised when she was 8 years old. It never hatched, and even if it had, it wouldn't have lived long, so H wrote a poem/song for it. H didn't remember the silkworm, and she was rather surprised she had been writing songs at such a young age.

I guess she underestimated her younger self, since almost a year before the silkworm song, H and S wrote this bit of poetry together.
