CopperCon 34
Aug. 25th, 2014 12:49 pmI was wrong last year. They did manage to put together a CopperCon this year, though with how pathetic and poorly run CopperCon 33 was last year, I was surprised to hear they were giving it another go.
At least the control of the Con ended up with folks who had run a successful CopperCon before, but the jury is still out on if they made enough of a go of it this year to have a next year. I hope they made it. They had science panels again, they had a filk guest again (they got smart with their choice, too - Leslie Fish), they had an almost decent ConSuite again.
M and H went, because they managed to wrangled M into being a participant. He was on several panels and even had the only other concert slot besides the Music Guest. He blogged about it here.
S, C, and I did not go this year for a variety of reasons: it was back at the hotel that is too far from us to make it an easy drive (too bad, since the hotel itself isn't too bad), I was still avoiding CopperCon because of last year, and S had her karate tournament on the same weekend.
When I talked with M, a few hours after they got to the Con on Friday, he told me that there was a gaming room with stand alone old style arcade games. H, apparently, had a go at Frogger for a while. Even though she just managed to kill the frog over and over, she decided that their first hour at CopperCon this year was already better than the whole CopperCon weekend last year.
