Pete, our oversized German Shorthaired Pointer, had a seizure last night. It was really rough, and lasted longer than any seizure he has had in his past. Once he came out of it he was very disoriented, but we eventually got him to drink some water, go potty, and settle down in his kennel for the night.
At 13 he is already well into average lifespan for his breed, complicated by the fact that he is 20lbs larger than the top end of the range for breed standard size (and not because he is fat, at healthy weight).
It was a blessing that all the kids were there to pet, comfort, and fawn over him last night. This morning Pete seemed back to his old self, so we're playing it by ear.
