Friday.
I started wondering when I should start worrying that the swelling in Newkie's leg wasn't going down. It actually seemed worse than the day before.
I had just about convinced myself to wait till next week to call the Vet about it, when the Vet's office called to see how Newkie was doing.
After some back and forth, it was decided I should bring Newkie in for a recheck.
Apparently with a recheck they just whisk the pet into the back. I waited outside so I could take off my mask. It was a different Vet and tech than on Wednesday, so they said they'd have to take my word for it that the swelling had gone up. But after looking at it, the Vet was worried enough to offer a treatment that involved lancing the cut, draining it, and saline rinsing it. The tech told me Newkie was being a calm sweetie and there was a very good chance they could get everything done without having to sedate her.
I tried calling M to get his imput, but his phone was in desperate need of a restart and wouldn't ring or send through texts. Since I wanted to consult with M before agreeing to the procedure, and the tech said Newkie was acting ok enough she could wait a day, I took her home with the plan to bring her back the next morning if the swelling didn't improve.
Nice bonus, the recheck didn't cost us anything.
