First 4-H Dog Show.
Oct. 13th, 2012 04:47 pmThe worst part? Check in was 7:30AM. That meant getting up before 6:45AM. Now all us grownups and the kids who participated are exhausted and the 6 year old is going, "Let's play a game.","Lets get the soccer ball and play outside.", "It's a nice day.", and other things like that.
Glurg.
Hazel and H did very well, but H can't see it and is being very hard on herself. They did Obedience (5th), Rally (7th), and Agility (3rd). Hazel really took to the agility course, and H was complimented on how Hazel didn't seem like a beginner when she went through.
S used Cody (a borrowed dog with 6 years 4-H Dog experience, so basically a ringer) because last night at practice Pete lunged so hard at another dog that he knocked S over and dragged her across the grass. S kept her hold and kept Pete from making contact with any other dog, though. Long and short of it, Pete got suspended pending special training and review.
Both girls still want to continue with dog, not matter how often M and I offer to let them just quit. At least this is something they are internally motivated about.
