4-H Dog Show.
Nov. 18th, 2012 09:15 amYesterday.
I got up at 6:20AM, so I could get the animals squared away in time to get the girls up and ready to leave for the dog show by 7:15AM (we almost made it out by then too, it was more like 7:20AM, however).
We got to the dog show about 8:30AM (the show was being hosted by another 4-H Dog Group way the heck across town). We checked in, got squared away, then found out we had a long wait till H could compete and S could help (S can't compete with Pete, because he isn't well enough behaved around other dogs, so as part of the Show Committee she volunteered to show up and help wherever needed.).
H wasn't doing Showmanship, and since they were doing the advanced kids first, she didn't get out to compete in Obedience until nearly 1pm. S got to help set up Rally and record times. Rally came third, however, so there was a lot of time for her to not have very much to do. She also got to help set up Agility, and I think she enjoyed herself once she was able to feel useful.
H competed in Obedience, Rally, and Agility. She came in last in Obedience, got dismissed from Rally for not being able to calm down, and came in 5th out of seven in Agility.
We didn't get home till 6:30PM.
M and C spent the day together. At the Barber Shop, while waiting for M to get his hair cut, C chatted up a nice old lady who ended up giving C four dollars and 38 cents, because "little boys should have some money in their pocket". M said she also talked C into getting his haircut, but C told me she didn't (though he did get it cut, for the first time by a professional, and C asked the barber to cut his hair "like Daddy's").
They also went to lunch and went shopping and went to the park.
Next Dog Show H is only going to do Agility (it's the only discipline she and Hazel enjoy - she only did the other two for the experience, and it wasn't a positive one), and we won't have to show up till a little while before Agility is scheduled. This should mean 3 or 4 hours at a show instead of over 8 (11 with travel time to a far away show) - and no more need for 6AM wake-up calls, Woot!
