Training Arrow and Horse Watching.

crazychicknladyThis morning Arrow and I worked oh hold, kennel, come, off, and go chew on Pete (that last one not being an official command, just something that lets him get some chewing out of his system on something besides humans).
I also let some chickens into the main yard to work with Arrow on him not chasing them (this involved putting a lead on Arrow and following him around as he sniffed out the chickens. Sometimes he sight pointed them (very cute). If he chased them I stepped on the lead to pull him up short. No talking on my part, just cause and effect - lunge after chickens, get pulled up short. We did this six or seven times, then he stopped following the chickens).
The horses are busy trimming the sunflowers for us. I'm trying to reduce hay consumption by letting them into the tree yard where the grass is longer. They need supervision to make sure they don't get bored with eating and damage the young trees.
