Front fence update.
Apr. 2nd, 2013 01:18 pmIt seems close to forever since M and I blithely decided to replace our front fence and part of our side fence. Little did we know what we were getting into: permits, plat maps, rewritten plans, changes in the location of trenches, more permits, inspections, delays, delays, delays.
Today a small amount of progress has occurred on our fence. After nearly a month delay (grumble grumble government, grumble grumble permits, grumble grumble) we finally got our concrete poured.

I have never had such an up close and personal experience of government regulation strangling economic growth. After the horrible experience we have had - all relating to getting the permit straightened out - I expect to never again build on our property if it requires getting government permission. That's likely tens of thousands of dollars not going to local construction business, because of how onerous our beloved government has made the process of building this fence.
