A good morning with C.
Apr. 9th, 2013 11:40 pmThis morning, C and I woke up a couple of hours before I got the girls up. We had a very pleasant time together - I felt very grateful to be homeschooling, getting to spend extra time with my sweet little boy instead of having to rush him and his sisters off to school and not see them all day.
C joined me outside while I was watching Junior graze. First we played several rounds of Uno. Then we just sat together, remembering. C remembered how our yard used to have a large pile of rocks and was covered with grass and weeds. Then he remembered it was mostly dirt. This confused him till I pointed out that we had had the property smoothed out and the berms built up, so most of the weeds had to be scraped away. I remembered that the loss of those weeds had made S sad for a long time.
C also remembered our old house and how he used to sleep on a mattress on the floor of H's room. One of the advantages of the new house - four bedrooms instead of three like our old house.
After reminiscing, we inspected several of our fruit trees to see how much fruit was lost in yesterday's massive windstorm. Surprisingly it looked like most of the fruit had come through just fine.
A little later C helped me move some of our temporary fence panels around. I wanted to make a pen over the grass for Junior because he got a nasty cut on his leg yesterday and I figured he'd keep it cleaner that way. C grabbed one end and asked me cheerfully if he was making it easier for me to move the fence. When he unexpectedly dropped his end I nearly lost my balance, so he must have been making a difference. Once the pen was done, C hauled the hose across the yard to help me fill up water buckets for Junior and Ezra.
