Final Transition.
Aug. 30th, 2018 11:09 amThe goose house is finished and the babies spent their first night outside last night. We officially gave them the white goose since her presence seems to calm them. Even though she still hates my guts, I don't think her feelings will rub off on the babies.
The transition seemed to go smoothly. I sat with them several times near the wire window of their house. Each time Peanut would talk to me, peck a little at the wire, then eventually calm down enough to eat. That was usually my cue to leave.
This morning they were anxious to be let out, but no one seemed freaked out or panicky.
After I let them out, Peanut came over to talk to me, and even though he wouldn't take the piece of grass I offered, he took a couple of bites from the grass growing right next to me. That made me optimistic about his nutritional needs being met. Even though I'll give them plenty of food when I lock them in at night, it is healthier for geese to graze.
