Thanksgiving was busy and successful. Oma and Opa came down, per usual. It is very good of them to make that drive every year.

Wednesday, S and I made pies. My apple turned out pretty tasty, I will likely make one of those again with some tiny changes to the recipe*. Unfortunately, thanks to some issues with the marange for the Key lime pie, we really didn't finish up till past 11pm. Plus, there was cleanup.

Late Wednesday, M broke the kitchen table while trying to change a lightbulb. Luckily, neither M, nor any pies, were harmed in the process. The table spent the night on it's side with it's leg being glued. It could stand upright by morning, and we could eat at it, but as a precaution we didn't do a big presentation spread. Instead, the food stayed on the counters and stovetop. That was very relaxing for me, actually.

We had Turkey, spaetzle, squash, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, cranberry sauce, and yams (though, those were only really ready in time for leftovers). And, of course, later we had pumpkin pie, apple pie, key lime pie, cheesecake (store bought), and icecream.

Oma and Opa went back to their hotel fairly early on Thanksgiving as they were still worn out from the drive the day before.

The rest of my Thanksgiving was eaten up by Shutterfly, but that tale can wait till another post. Suffice it to say, I was up till nealy 2am as a result.

*For my future self to remember: I used Gala apples, half a cup sugar, flour for thickening, and left out the lemon juice. Basically, a wet finger in the air combo of Joy of cooking and the burnt cookbook.
