Family Emergency.

crazychicknladyLast Saturday M's Mom called. Her fist words were, "I don't think we'll be able to make it out for Memorial Day."
The rest of the story:
Opa had been in the hospital for a week (thanks for the heads up Oma), they had to remove fluid from his lungs, he's been diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma, they put in a port for chemotherapy, he had to be on oxygen for six days, once he was breathing on his own they tried to get him to walk but he couldn't support himself, and the hospital won't release him to home, but he can't stay there. Oma sounded tired and overwhelmed.
I told M he had to go visit and bring as many kids as wanted to go. We eventually landed on all four driving out, leaving today after H's last final. The current plan is ten days gone, but they will reassess when they're there. Unfortunately, the new hospital Opa was moved to doesn't allow under 16 on the floor he's on. C may be making the drive just to not be able to see his Opa. Poor kid. At least the girls are old enough.
