Time we can give to our kids.
Jan. 5th, 2009 12:44 pmSchool steals a lot of time from kids. Given an 8 hour school day (not unreasonable considering commute time in there), and a 180 day school year, it only takes 7 years to reach over 10000 hours.
Why is 10000 significant? Read this Camp Creek Blog a friend of mine sent me a link for this morning.
If you add homework time into my calculations a child could easily reach that 10000 twice over before 18 years of age, just from time they would have spent in school and on school related activities. That still leaves the other 185 days of the year.
I don't expect my kids to reach a level of excellence while in my charge, I'm simply not going to steal 20000 hours of their life away from them.
