My husband found out today that he did not pass the oral portion of his graduate exams (He passed the written in August, and this was his second attempt at the oral part). He would have been eligible to receive his masters in Physics had he passed.
I'm trying to remember all my blessings to not dwell on how my plans have been derailed. (Plan was: get Masters, get new job, move before real estate prices recover.)
Blessings:
M has a good paying job, secure for another year and a half.
Me, my husband, and all our children are healthy.
My kids are happy (even if, according to S, today was her worst day ever because she got three little owies, her brother chased her trying to hurt her, a dog licked her in the face a bunch, and her back was itchy).
I have a good marriage and a great husband. (Though I'm feeling very helpless to help my hubby right now.)
We have paid off our house (so we are very secure, even in this uncertain economy).
Even if real estate prices bounce back we will be able to buy a place once we sell the one we're in. (If we pack up three quarters of our possessions we might even be able to make this place show ready for potential buyers, while still living here.)
We don't have to worry about having enough to eat.
We have friends in the area.
We have terrific Grandparents for the kids.
This is a good place to live and raise kids. It's easy to homeschool here. I need to hush the part of me that wants to move and just enjoy where we are now, for however long that now needs to be.
