Saturday.

I took C trick-or-treating. It was a weird, though successful experience. C ended up with a very good haul of candy, but we walked twice as far as usual to pull that off. There were lots of dark houses, maybe only 30% of normal giving out candy. Many of the houses just had buckets out; some with candy in pre-sorted ziploc bags. Those present to give out candy seemed really happy to have us show up. Some wore masks and minimized contact and some almost acted like it was a normal Halloween, though perhaps being a bit more generous with their candy this year. The weirdest one was the lady with the Biden sign in her yard. C had to go to the door, but she put her mask on before opening the door, then used a grabby tool to keep way back while she dropped a full sized candy bar into his bag.

At the start of our evening we noticed our new neighbors had a fire going and were ready for trick-or-treaters. C was their only trick-or-treater the whole night, but I can't blame that on Covid, we never get kids trick-or-treating our neighborhood. Even we drive to one with houses built closer together and not on a dirt road. Later C went to visit with them and they sent him home with his pockets full of candy.
