It has been about one year since H moved into her own place. Right before our government's/society's response to the pandemic effed everything up.
H started with a roommate in a two bedroom and ended up by herself in a one bedroom. She's handling it well, though she doesn't always feel that way. Without the invitation to share a two bedroom with a coworker/friend, I'm not sure when/how we would have managed for H to move out. So that really helped move her in the right direction towards adulthood. We just weren't planning on her being abandoned five months later with barely two weeks notice.
This was supposed to be a fun, carefree, social time in her life - learning to balance school, work, and a social life, while still paying rent and buying her own food. She's still doing the rent and food just fine, work is almost full time, school is nearly all online, and in person social is pretty much just us once a week. Stupid pandemic.
