We have a very large catus next to one of our irrigation pipes. It was there when we moved in and has thrived during the intervening years. It got big enough to damage the upright, so with the judicial use of an axe, a hatchet, a chainsaw, and a bazillion half filled garbage cans, we hacked it back and disposed of most of the carnage.

It's still gloriously big, but several feet away from the upright now.

Being fond of the cactus, and wanting to give our poor garbage can a break, we tried transplanting several large chunks to various parts of our yard.

This one seems to be doing well.
