Movie Night.
Oct. 1st, 2023 04:36 pmHubby and I went to some friends' house to watch John Wick. Originally the invite was to see the fourth movie, but since we had never seen any of them, we watched the first movie instead.
They had a very nice set up with a very large TV, and the hostess provided us with popcorn and boxes of movie theater candy. The host offered me 5 different types of rum. Since I had never had rum before, he recommended I try a little of each. For Science!
It turns out the Captain Morgan Private Stock was quite good, and a bottle may have to follow me home from the store some day.
As for John Wick, it was generally the level of action movie I enjoy. The main character is worth rooting for, he is very good at his job of killing the bad guys, and there was basically no romance. The firearms work was excellent. My biggest problem, and it took me out of the moment everytime, was the choreography for the hand to hand. John Wick was described as a man who could take out three opponents with just a pencil. His hand to hand should have ended up with broken bones and broken necks, instead it just looked like intense sparing. I'm told the choreography is better in the second movie, so I'm willing to give John Wick one more chance at some point.
I was feeling fiercely anti-social before we went, so I've asked hubby to remind me before the next time that I did have a pleasant enough time and have agreed to try this again in the future.
