My Mother has recommended a British talkshow type comedian to me. She insists he's not political, but given the vast differences between us on core beliefs in that department, I don't expect she's correct that politics don't flavor his humor, or that I'll actually find him funny. I couldn't get through 10 minutes of the last "hysterically funny" comedian she suggested I watch.

I'd mention my favorite British comedian to her, but Ricky Gervais uses c*nt far too liberally for me to recommend him to my Mother and Father.

Comedy is definitely not universal. There are some folks that my friends think are hysterically funny and they're just annoying to me. And the reverse is also true. The best you can do is give it a look and if it's not for you, just click on out of there. "Yeah, I gave it a shot, but the jokes just weren't that funny to me. I can see what you like about it, but it's not my cuppa." My mom sends me links that I dutifully look at but which are just not my speed, even though we're fairly similar on the politics front. *sigh* I think it might be a generational issue.
