The geese are laying (and the males have ramped up their aggressiveness).

My allergies are kicking my butt.

Here in central Illinois, the snow crocus and snowdrops are blooming. Lots of bulbs are sprouting. Maple buds are swelling. And the poor red-winged blackbirds have again arrived very early and are now huddled in my yard regretting their poor life choices. I actually saw the first honeybee a couple weeks ago; one tried to pollinate me yesterday, and I had to explain that I was not a flower.

I have to agree: it's the start of spring. In freaking February.

Yay spring! My dad has 1" of daffs poking above the soil, but it's still going to be freezing overnights here for a while. The snow has melted, though, and I'm ready for the horses to start shedding. Our Turkey Buzzards have returned (they winter in the south and do not return until it's nearly-spring) so maybe the groundhog lied.
