Vegetable Soup
Aug. 21st, 2009 12:11 amH decided to make some vegetable soup. It wasn't vegetarian, since she used chicken broth as its base, but it turned out pretty well.
She used:
water
2 chicken bouillon cubes
celery
baby carrots
broccoli
frozen corn
egg noodles
pepper
onion powder
It was pretty tasty (C even wanted seconds - though he did just eat the noodles and broth).
Not only did H make the soup with nearly no help from me (I found some of the ingredients for her, but I did no washing nor chopping), she was gracious enough to let her three year old brother help. She was very sweet to him, found tasks he could be successful with, and let me know he should get some of the credit for how the soup turned out.
When it seemed like C would take over the whole process, such that H felt like she was helping him rather than the other way around, I pointed out to H that having her brother help was an even more grown up thing to do than making the soup all by herself.
