We Are the Stick
Sep. 3rd, 2009 03:07 pmWhen we were trying to buy the house that ended up with too many electrical issues to consider (at that price anyway), the realtor representing the sellers kept using the threat of backup offers to move us along. It didn't work too well for them, seeing as neither M nor I respond well to bullying. Plus, the house was not a high enough quality carrot to keep us interested.
It seems all those eager backup offers were no more than smoke and mirrors, since the house in question went back on the market Saturday, and has remained in active status ever since.
There is a second house that we are interested in, and in this case we are the backup offer. I'm worried that we have become the stick to use against the primary buyers. Our interest will artificially inflate the value of the house in the other buyers eyes. This time there really are backup offers, and we're it.
We should know one way or the other in about two weeks.
I hope it's not longer than that, seeing as I'm rotten at waiting.
