An Unusual Game of Fetch
Dec. 2nd, 2009 10:46 pmWhen I throw the tennis ball for our dog Pete (he actually fetches a ball, unlike Hazel), I usually play indoors and throw the ball down the hallway. This makes it simple to get him to bring the ball back to me; Pete's supposed to be a hunting dog someday, and I don't want to let him get away with not bringing back the fetched object.
Tonight the kids joined in the game. They chased after Pete wherever I threw the ball, then chased him back. It was very funny to watch, with lots of laughing and running and tumbling. Pete seemed to like the new variety of fetch, and didn't let the children distract him from his task at hand.
All in all I was very pleased. The kids got some exercise, Pete got some fetch practice and a good time was had by all.
