I Love H's Sensei!
Dec. 21st, 2009 07:40 pmAfter H's class last week she told her Sensei how she feels bad in her stomach whenever they do sparing (even if she is just watching other kids spar). He told her this was butterflies, and they were good - they would keep her alert and save her life. He also told her that with more experience the butterflies would lesson.
Tonight he gave her some of that experience.
He had H spar four different kids, starting with the smallest kid in the class and working up to a junior brown belt who is slightly taller than her.
After the first opponent her butterflies were gone, but they did come back by the time she had to face the last boy (H is several belts lower than him, and he landed quite a few more kicks and punches than her other three opponents).
I was so proud of H for staying in there and fighting four fights (usually with sparring they only fight once), and pleased with her Sensei for so quickly addressing H's concerns and trying to help her work through them.
