Gus our "free" horse

crazychicknladyOlder Thoroughbred gelding - current owners think about 22, but they don't know his background so I don't know how they decided on that age.
Skinny - he came to the current owners underweight, and they didn't notice till recently that their other horses were bullying him out of his fair share of the food.
Maybe 16.1 - 16.2, I'll have to stick him sometime.
Spunkier than I expected for an underweight twenty-something. He'll need a refresher on proper ground manners, and since he's so skinny he's an unknown in the area of manners under saddle.
Unflappable - C fell on the ground about a foot away from Gus' head while he was grazing and he didn't even so much as twitch an ear.
Friendly - he was very interested when we came up to see him, he is obviously kindly treated by the current owners, they just seem to be missing some of the pieces of proper horse care with regards to Gus.
Hooves are a wreck - He's way overdue for a trim - the toes on his front feet are flattening out.
They haven't had his teeth floated even though they say they've noticed he needs it (and older horses often need their teeth floated more often).
On they way home I asked the kids if they like Gus, they said "No, we love Gus."
I talked it over with M and he says we can get him :) :) :).
I think once we get him cleaned up, fed up and a little more muscled he'll be a good looking horse.
