Chicken Updates
Feb. 14th, 2008 03:51 pmDaisy, our remaining Americana, started laying eggs a few weeks ago.
She didn't lay anything for two weeks after Tiger Lilly died, so I assumed Tiger Lilly was our best green egg layer. Maybe Daisy was in mourning, maybe she was molting, but for the past few weeks she's been averaging five eggs a week. It's nice to know I don't have any freeloading chickens right now ;-).

Daisy

Green eggs - Daisy, Brown eggs - Lantana.
Here's some updated photos of the rest of our flock.

The Matriarch, Lantana, a Rhode Island Red.

Rose(left), a New Hampshire Red, and Wing Flap(right), a Buff Orpington.
Wing Flap and Rose are about 17 weeks old. They could be laying for us within a week or two. Four layers would provide plenty of eggs for our family.
