Nice Day at Home
Nov. 9th, 2010 06:38 pmToday was really nice weather wise. If the kids were all healthy we'd have headed to the park, but this respiratory thing they've got is hard to shake.
Instead, we ate pomegranates in the front yard, and made lassos out of the old twine from some hay bales and the kids lassoed some water bottles left by the previous owners.
Then we headed to the back yard to supervise the baby chickens in the horse/damn geese/chicken yard (there are still a few spots they can escape from due to the small size of the babies), pet Ezra, and play dominance games with the damn geese.
The time spent with the animals was very gratifying for me. I've always wanted my animals to be a homeschooling resource.
I even managed to clean out the nesting boxes and H helped me out by bringing a couple of flakes of hay from the front to line the boxes with. S spent some time alone in the front while the rest of us were inside the horse/damn geese/chicken yard. Then the girls spent some more time eating pomegranates while C washed off after crawling under the chicken house to chase the baby chickens back to their cage.
