"Tax cuts will cost us [some very large number] of dollars." - President Barack Obama

I am friggin sick and tired of the attitude that tax cuts are a gift from the government, that the government is losing money they are entitled to by lowering taxes (or keeping them at their miserably high rate).

Someone on a talk show earlier today talked about how Americans get used to a law once it's passed (like a temporary tax cut), and feel entitled to that tax cut even after it is scheduled to end.

Come again?

Oh for crying out loud, it's the individual's friggin money, they earned it, they are entitled to keep it. If the poor broke government can't survive on all the money it already takes from us (I had to pay 9.4% sales tax at the pet store last week), then it should work on shrinking (I know, I know, never gonna happen - once a bureaucracy is born it will never die).

I know, let's start with the TSA.

ETA: Okay, I realized that by bringing up sales tax I mixed state government into what was essentially a rant about federal government, but the sentiment is the same.
