H just walked up to me and described the difference between odd and even numbers. She help up a four pronged fork, then said something close to, "If I add one then we can separate this into two groups of two with one left in the middle. If we only have four then there is no middle and it is not odd. If we make it six then no middle. If we have seven then we have a middle one again. Also it works for one, one is the middle with none on each side, but it doesn't work for two, no middle."

H gave her approval for me to post this :)

Now we are headed off to buy back scratchers.

Pretty cool. Kaia impresed me the other day, when I realized for sure that she grasps greater/less than. As in "no Mama, I want 5 bunny cookies, not 3."

That is, without a doubt, one of the best explanations of even and odd I have ever heard. Clear, concise, and better than any explanation I ever saw in a teacher's math book.
