Goose Egg Update.
Mar. 26th, 2011 02:33 amWe were up to 11.
Then I left the gate open, and the dogs helped themselves to five.
Then we were back up to nine (so an overall total of 14 eggs), and after discussing it with the neighbor who gave us the geese in the first place, fed four of the oldest eggs to the dogs.
That left us with five.
Now we are up to nine, again (so 18 all told - I had no idea we would get so many goose eggs back when there was only one).
And last night we spied Speedy actually sitting the eggs. Squeee!
We'll see if she sticks with it. Or if they are even fertilized (we've never caught the geese engaged in any sort of hankie pankie, so we're not sure).
They need thirty days to develop.
